Customer messages
One inbox, three sets of rules. Website buyers get email. Amazon and Etsy buyers get replies inside their platforms, because each forbids taking the conversation anywhere else — and Amazon counts the hours.

Hi! Just checking when the Michigan and Notre Dame corks will ship — they're a gift for the 27th.
Reply via Etsy: Etsy Messages only. Keep the conversation on Etsy; taking it off-platform breaks their terms.

Is the red on the Alabama one crimson or more of a bright red? The photo looks dark.
Reply via Amazon: Buyer–Seller Messaging only. No email address is given, no marketing, no link to another store. Reply within 24 hours.

Where messages come from
Website: a contact form on the shop posts to the Worker, and replies go out by email from an address on the domain. Amazon: Buyer-Seller Messaging has an API under SP-API; until then, the notification email is forwarded in and the reply goes out in Seller Central. Etsy: no messaging API at all — Etsy Messages is the only place. The admin logs the thread; it cannot send it.
